At Due North Safaris, much of the knowledge that our guides impart to our guests has been due to the great rapport that we have with the locals. The learning never stops as there are always new stories and anecdotes to listen to.

Reindeer and Snow Village Medley
Take time to be astounded by just a few of the wonders Lapland has to offer,
Reindeer farm AND the Snow village in one tour.
We will start off by heading to the reindeer farm, either by bus or snowmobile.
Once there, we will meet the farm owners who will treat us to an amazing experience on their reindeer farm. Lassoing, harnessing, sleigh riding and feeding are just some of the things we will get to try. At the end we will sit down in a warm cabin with coffee or tea and listen to how life is for the Sami, based around the reindeer year.
From there we will make our way over the Lainio river to the spectacular Snow village where we can walk around and admire the ice sculptures and ingenuity in and around the snow village.
We will finish off by sitting down in their warm restaurant for a hearty soup lunch before heading back.

Reindeer Farm Life
A step back in time, upon entering the gates at the reindeer farm you will go back to the old traditional methods of transportation up here in Lapland. The harnessed reindeer are waiting to take you on a 2,5km ride through the forest. You get to drive your own sleigh and when you get back you can feed and interact a bit with the reindeer. After that you will be taken into an old kota to enjoy some coffee or homemade berry juice and cookies all whilst listening to some fascinating old tales and the function of the reindeer year.

Northern-Lights Reindeer Adventure
We head out on a 4km reindeer sleigh ride under the cover of darkness, first through the forest and then down towards the open wetlands, which are the best places to get a wide view of the sky and hopefully some dancing lights.
After the ride we will go into a typical Sami kota for a warm beverage and pancakes made over the open fire, all whilst listening to some interesting stories told about the spirits of the reindeer running through the sky.

Icelandic Horse Ride
Give yourself a rare treat – a relaxing ride on an Icelandic horse! These small, sturdy and good natured horses are ideal for experiencing the unique nature of Lapland and will provide some exciting and unforgettable memories. You will be given instructions on how to ride and act around the horses so beginners and experienced riders are welcome. No previous experience is necessary, except for children under 12 years. Maximum number of riders on one trip is 7 persons.
