Travel insurance

We highly recommend a good “extreme sport” travel insurance when joining one of our activities.

Aurora Adventures Oy can only be held liable for personal injuries or property damage that have happened during the offered program and are caused by the negligence of Aurora Adventures Oy or Aurora Adventures Oy staff. Aurora Adventures Oy is not liable for any damage or injury which must be indemnified under the travel insurance of a participant. All participants must have a valid travel insurance.

Please do take advantage of our self-liability waiver for snowmobile tours.

Price is €25/driver/Tour and reduces the self liability from €1500 to €350.

Terms and conditions

Snowmobile Activities

  • Children 3 years old and below are not allowed on any snowmobile activities.
  • Children over 3 years old may be passengers on a snowmobile if they are over 140cm. This MUST be communicated to Aurora Adventures upon booking.
  • All children that are over 3 years old but under 140 cm tall will go in a sled behind the guide and accompanied by a responsible family member if necessary. Children in sled behind the guide pay child price if under 13 years.
  • Children under 13 years and over 140cm can go as a passenger on a snowmobile with parents if they like but pay full adult price.
  • Drivers must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license which must be carried with them when operating a snowmobile.
  • Drivers will not operate a snowmobile under the influence of alcohol or drugs. (Aurora Adventures has a 0% BAC Tolerance).
  • All drivers and passengers must respect the guides leadership and respect all applicable rules during the tour. Failure to do so may result in a premature termination of the tour.

Drivers are responsible for their machine. This means in case of an accident or damage to the machine there is a self-liability cost of a maximum €1500. Damage and fault will be assessed by the guides upon returning to the safari house. To reduce the €1500 self-liability to a maximum of €350, a self-Liability waiver is available for €25 per driver per tour. The self-liability waiver must be purchased before the tour and is only available for guided tours. The self-liability charge (€1500 – €350) in case of damages must be paid at the Aurora Adventures office directly after the safari. All snowmobile tours include snowmobile, fuel, helmet, guiding and 3rd party insurance.

Husky Activities

The mushers have full discretion to refuse any person on a tour if they deem them improperly dressed for the weather. The clothing supplied by Aurora Adventures Oy is acceptable so please take advantage of these clothes as they are included in the price of the tour.

  • To take control of your own team of huskies you need to be 18 years and above.
  • Children 2 years old and below are not allowed on any husky tours.
  • Children 3-12 will be passengers together with their parents.
  • Children 6 years old and below are not allowed on any husky tours longer than 9km.

Feeding the dogs in not allowed, this is important for the safety of the dogs as some food stuffs can be fatally dangerous. These may include but not limited to chocolate, raisins, and xylitol products (most candies, cookies etc.).

Please do not touch the dogs who are inside the cages, nor the dogs who are in the team eagerly waiting to start running, we cannot guarantee your safety in these cases.

Please do not throw your litter at the farm area or on the trail, it destroys the nature, and it is dangerous for the dogs if they eat your litter.

Transportation

Transportation between the customer’s place of accommodation in the immediate Äkäslompolo area and the safari house is included in the price of all tours. Pick up addresses must be provided in writing at least one week before arrival. Being late or a no-show is non-refundable, and the transfer bus will NOT wait for anyone. Pick up times may vary slightly as we cannot be in more than one place at a time. A fee will be added if the pick up is outside of the Äkäslompolo area.

Other

Due North Safaris reserves the right to interrupt the safari if a participant is seen as a danger to him/herself or to the other participants.
Due North Safaris reserves the right to change the itinerary of the excursions should the weather or safety of our customers so require.
Upon booking, it is the client’s responsibility to inform us of any allergies, food intolerances or special requirements needed.
Due North Safaris reserves the right to change scheduled bookings to suit group sizes.
All tours are time sensitive, therefore should there be any customer delays the tour time will be reduced to fit the schedule. 

All given times include any transfer time. 

All safaris can be privatized given time and availability. Price to privatise is 1,5x the normal price.
All safaris require a minimum of 2 adult pax unless otherwise stated.
Due North Safaris reserves the right to change scheduled bookings to suit group sizes.

Bookings and pre bookings

All bookings shall be made via e-mail. Due North Safaris will confirm all bookings in writing.

When booking, the client should include full names, dates of birth and accommodation places for all participants.

Bookings can be made beforehand (pre-bookings) or on the spot.

Pre-bookings shall be made in writing or telephone. For pre-bookings made by telephone, a handling fee of 5 Euros will be added to the total and credit card details will be taken for security. Due North Safaris will confirm all bookings in writing.

Bookings on the spot must be made no later than 17:00 the day prior to departure.

Payments

Immediately after a booking has been made, Due North Safaris will send a written confirmation accompanied by a payment link for the full amount. Payments must be paid by due date otherwise the booking will be cancelled.

The supplier will take Credit Card details as a security if necessary.

On spot bookings must be paid in full at the time of booking.

Reservation on price changes

Due North Safaris generally reserves the right to change prices mentioned on their brochures and web pages. The Supplier shall inform the client if a surcharge is to be imposed.
The given prices include VAT according to the Taxation Laws and Regulations of Finland.
Due North Safaris reserves the right to change the prices in case of any unforeseen increases in costs (including but not limited to taxes, fuel prices etc.) beyond the control of Due North Safaris.

Cancellations

Cancellations must be made via email.
All cancellations will incur a 20% cancellation fee, Unless:

  • The cancellation is made 7 days or less prior to your activity. In this case there is no refund.

  • If the cancellation is made with more than 30 days remaining until the scheduled trip. In this case a full refund will be made.

  • If a tour is cancelled by Due North Safaris due to weather conditions that we deem unsafe for that tour, then an alternative tour will be offered (subject to availability) failure to do so then a full refund will be made. Should Due North Safaris cancel a tour, it will be done on the day of the event by the guide responsible for that tour. Weather conditions that Due North Safaris may consider cancelling a tour for are: Extreme cold or storms.

Force majeure

Strikes, lockouts, conflagrations, explosions, wars or warlike conditions, substantial restrictions on supplies and other circumstances outside the Supplier’s control entitles the Supplier to cancel the agreement without any liability in damages.

Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the Finnish Law. The Finnish Courts shall have the exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute, controversy or claim related to such a demand. The District Court of Lapland (in Finnish: Lapin Käräjäoikeus), placed in Rovaniemi, shall be the court of first instance.

Severability

If any part, term or provision of these terms and conditions is partly or wholly held invalid, illegal or unenforceable, the validity or enforceability of other provisions, extent part and remainder of these terms and conditions shall remain in full force and effect.
